Summer Reading - The Love and Glory of Air Conditioning

As soon as the season begins, especially in summer, the most pressing question asked when seeing a face that is hot from the heat is: "Don't you have air conditioning?!" It seems like a common occurrence, right?

You go, you choose, you order, they install it for you, and everyone is happy. Especially in the summer, the person sitting next to him is happy, as he is blown by a stream of cool air from all sides and often forgets that it is +45 outside.

Summer Reading - The Love and Glory of Air Conditioning

But how many times have you thought about how far coolness has come before it became available at the touch of a button?! It's clear that people were also worried about the heat when it was created. Maybe even more so, although back then everything was much more complicated and cooling down was not an easy pleasure.

Ancient cooling systems in different countries

For example, wealthy Romans used an excellent system of aqueducts to circulate water, which kept the walls of their homes cool.

The Roman Emperor Elagabalus, however, was more creative in his approach and decided to bring snow from the mountains directly to his gardens, using pack donkeys.

In China, the so-called ventilator was invented three thousand years ago, which was about the size of a room and was mechanically operated, while in the Middle East, "wind towers" were built - a system that "caught" the wind breeze and distributed it throughout the building.

But who has made a huge contribution to the fact that even today we are not struggling like the poor Romans or the Chinese, we will tell you right now:

It seems that America was more bothered by the heat than others. Or they simply decided that creative approaches and ancient experience were not a worthy solution in the process of forming the modern world. So they got up and invented.

The first electronic air conditioner

The first electric air conditioner was invented by Willis Haviland Carrier in 1902. You'd be surprised to know that it was originally used in typography to improve printing. It became much more popular after Thomas Midge discovered Freon in 1928.

From that time on, people began to think about using air conditioners for domestic and industrial purposes. A cooling system in places where people gather, for example, in large corporations, would always be a plus. The first air conditioners were installed in movie theaters.

Until 1932, it remained an unwieldy, oversized appliance and a luxury item for the home. However, after Schultz and Scheimann invented an air conditioner that could be hung on a window, its use in the home was given new potential.

Although it was not a very popular product at first due to its high price, Henry Galson created a more affordable version and began mass-producing air conditioners with several manufacturers.

By 1947, 43,000 had already been sold. To illustrate the importance of cooling to one of the most developed countries, we can say that approximately 100 million American homes have air conditioning.

While in many countries in Asia and Africa, as soon as the temperature rises, they only issue recommendations on how to survive the heat. However, survival, in this case, literally means survival.

Currently, the consumption of air conditioners in Georgia can be estimated at a higher than average rate, as modern technologies, a regulated market, and internal competition among official manufacturers make the product accessible to ordinary residents.

This is also facilitated by the fact that air conditioners are sold on installments at all appliance stores .

Air conditioners from the Korean giant Samsung are in particular demand.

In any case, all large buildings, vital facilities, food outlets, shopping malls, and entertainment venues are well aware of how uncomfortable the heat is and how happy it is to be cool, even when everything around is burning.
