How to use a circular saw safely without a table?
A tableless circular saw, also known as a handheld circular saw or portable circular saw, is a power tool used for cutting various materials, such as wood, plastic, or metal. Unlike a table saw, which is a stationary tool mounted on a table , a tableless circular saw is designed to be used freely.
Here is a basic overview of how to use a tableless circular saw:
- Safety Precautions: Before you begin, make sure you have the necessary safety equipment, such as safety glasses, ear protection, and work gloves. Read and understand the user manual for your specific circular saw model, as different saws may have slightly different features and operating instructions.

- Set the cutting depth: Most circular saws have a depth adjustment lever or knob that allows you to set the desired cutting depth. Adjust the depth according to the thickness of the material you are cutting. The depth should be slightly greater than the thickness of the material to avoid cutting into the bottom surface.
- Mark your cut: Use a pencil or straight edge to mark the line where you want to make the cut. This will help guide the saw and ensure accuracy.
- Position the material: Place the material on a stable work surface, such as a saw table. Make sure the material is securely fastened in place to prevent it from moving during cutting.
- Align the saw: Place the circular saw on a raised board guard and aligned with the cutting line. Make sure the blade is not touching the material before starting the saw.
- Turn on the saw: Hold the saw with both hands, one on the handle and the other on the front handle. Turn on the power switch and allow the blade to reach full speed before contacting the material.
- Make the cut: With the blade aligned with the cutting line, slowly raise the saw forward, allowing the blade to cut through the material. Apply gentle and consistent pressure, allowing the saw to do the work. Maintain control of the saw throughout the process.
- Finish the cut: Once you reach the end of the cut, turn off the power switch and allow the blade to come to a complete stop. Wait until the blade stops rotating, then move the saw away from the material.
