Smart TVs as a new tool for targeted advertising?
Vizio, the second-largest U.S. television maker, is developing a new industry that will allow its smart models to offer users targeted advertising, Reuters reported.
The company has already begun partnering with 9 leading advertising companies around a project called Oari, which will take the first steps in this direction.
Although Visio is not yet sold in our online store, it is one of the leaders in this field in general and offers customers various, cutting-edge models .

As it stands, the absence of so-called "cookies" in TVs does not allow advertisers to offer their owners ads tailored specifically to them. Within the framework of this project, it is planned to create a special standard that all manufacturers will use through a free license.
Although Smart TVs seem like a very profitable industry at first glance, in reality the margins are quite small and this innovation could become a real boom for both large and small vendors.
This isn't the first time Vizio has tried to control its users. The last time it tried, it was fined $2.2 million by the Federal Trade Commission for illegally enabling controls on more than 11 million TVs. So this time, the offer will be public, and TV owners will have to opt in via a special button.
It is not yet known what types of ads the new project may offer. According to Reuters, Visio also plans to start a large-scale collaboration with developers to create special formats.
It is worth noting that Samsung made a similar attempt a few years ago, placing ads in the TV interface, which caused quite a bit of protest from users.
