How to care for enamelware - the best way for housewives
Probably every housewife loves to buy a new kitchen accessory. Unfortunately, some of our favorite cookware contains enamel, which is made of loose glass.
This is the substance that requires special care. This post provides answers to the three most pressing questions:
- How to protect the surface of enamel cookware from scratches and damage
- How to remove stains from enamelware
- How to clean enamel pots
How to protect the surface of enamel cookware from scratches and damage
First of all, what is enamel? - It's a glass-like coating that's baked onto a cast iron pan, similar to enamel. If you hit it hard with something, it will easily break or crack, but that doesn't mean you should avoid using such cookware.
Trust me, if your enamelware is full of scratches, it doesn't mean the end of the world.
There are additional measures you can take to improve your enamel:
- Try not to expose such utensils to a humid environment.
- Avoid heating an empty kettle and be sure to pour in plenty of liquid when you plan to use it.
How to remove stains from enamelware
Unlike enameled products, other types of dishes are dark in color, and their similar design allows them to easily hide various types of stains, while dishes with an enameled surface require great care in this regard. This is precisely the negative side of enameled products.
The following experiment was conducted: they took an enamel-coated kettle, poured the recommended detergent solution into it. For every 1 teaspoon, they added 1 cup of water. This improved the kettles a little, but it was still far from the initial effect.
After that, they tried a stronger solution and it worked. The main rule for this solution is 1/3 - that is, 1 cup of bleach to 3 cups of water.
How to clean enamel pots
Below is how to clean your enameled cookware. This method can also be used on any type of cookware, but is not recommended for frequent use.
- Fill the pot halfway with cold water, place it on the stove, covered, and when it boils, let it simmer for two to three minutes, then turn it off.
- Then stir it with a wooden stick and put it back on the gas. Finally, pour off the hot liquid, wash with plain water and detergent, and dry.
We hope you find our tips useful and successfully implement them in your own kitchen.
