The history of the TV table
These small TV tables (A TV tray table) were originally designed to be a surface from which you could eat while watching TV.
TV stands became popular in the 1950s as a way to store food and drinks. A cult element of watching TV was the TV dinner. The first advertisement for a TV stand appeared in 1952. It was usually placed in the corner of the living room.
The inventor of the TV stand is unknown, but it may have been based on the Butler tray table . The original, popular models consisted of two parts: a metal tray with handles mounted on the bottom, and a set of tubular metal legs with rubber tips at the bottom. The handles were attached to the legs, which could be opened to support the tray.
