A joystick is a device for controlling a game. A joystick is a device that can be used to control the movement of a cursor or pointer on a computer device. It is mainly used in gaming programs and gaming consoles, but is sometimes used in graphics programs as well.

A joystick, named after the control stick used by pilots to control the aircraft's rudders and elevators, is a hand-held lever that pivots at one end and transmits coordinates to a computer. It often has one or more buttons, called switches, whose positions can also be read by the computer.

What is Joystick And How Works Is it ?

A joystick is a pointing device used to move an object on a screen in any direction. It uses a vertical rod mounted on a base with one or two buttons.

Joysticks are widely used in video games. Basically, the joystick uses an electronic switch to detect the direction in which the stick is being held. Inside the joystick base is a printed circuit board. The terminals cannot complete an electrical circuit when the joystick is in the neutral position (the stick does not press the contacts in the <on> position).

Joystick types:

Digital joysticks - The most common joystick on home computers. The joystick itself consists of five parts, arranged so that four of them indicate the direction of the joystick (up, down, left, right) and one is for the fire button.
Paddle Controller - is a simple controller consisting of a single button used to control the game. Paddle controllers have been used in video games since the first television games to control a racket on the screen.
Analog joysticks - are a combination of both the joystick and paddle ideas. Analog joysticks are used in Apple, Amiga, and IBM PCs, which only have analog joystick inputs.
Computer analog - This joystick model was introduced by IBM with the first IBM PC. The way digital computer joysticks communicate with the computer is not standardized, and possible methods include a keyboard connector, a serial port, or a proprietary serial protocol with an older joystick interface.
Bluetooth Game Controllers - Not all Bluetooth game controllers are created equal. Some are designed specifically for Android devices, while others are true console controllers that work across all platforms.
