Every woman should have a scent that uniquely defines who she is. Plus, when you walk into a room, you want people to think you smell good too!

Finding the perfect scent isn't easy, especially if you have no idea where to start. You may not even have a clue what scent you want. The process can be a bit daunting. After some research and experimentation, you'll be one step closer to finding your favorite scent.

Find out what perfume you want.

The first thing to do when it comes to finding your perfume is to consider which scent suits you best. There are different types to choose from: citrus/fruity, floral, musky/spicy, and woody.

If you're more drawn to feminine or softer scents, floral scents are great. These include lavender, cherry blossoms, and roses. Citrus has a bolder scent. These include your typical fruity scents like apple or orange. If you're looking for something more earthy, look for scents like woodsy, rain, or musky. Musks give off the scent of clean linen. They can also have a bit of spice, like cinnamon or vanilla.

If you're someone who enjoys having options, it's best to have at least two fragrance families in mind. You might want to smell like roses one day and the ocean the next. Regardless of what you choose, just make sure these scents represent you best.

Consider the aroma concentration levels:

Perfumes come in four different levels of concentration, from the weakest to the strongest. These levels determine how long the scent will last throughout the day. Keep this in mind when buying, as perfumes often have a concentration level listed on the bottle. The higher the concentration, the higher the price.

There are four types of concentration:

  1. Eau De Cologne- This is the lowest concentration. The scent can last up to 2 hours at most. It consists of 5% oil mixed with alcohol and water.
  2. Eau de Toilette - This is still a diluted form of perfume, but it is stronger than cologne. It has a higher concentration - 8% and can last up to 4 hours.
  3. Eau De Parfum - Stronger than the last two levels. It lasts for at least 6 hours and has an oil and alcohol concentration of over 18%.
  4. Perfumery- This is just a labeled fragrance. It has the highest concentration level of up to 30% and can stay on the skin all day.
