Philips is a Dutch multinational company founded in 1891 and has changed its focus several times throughout its history. However, one thing remains the same - Philips remains one of the leading brands on the planet!

Initially producing light bulbs, it then moved into consumer electronics, and in the 2000s began producing medical diagnostic equipment. About a third of the company's revenue comes from operations in the United States.
History
The company was founded on May 15, 1891 by Gerard Philips, who was financially supported by his father, Frederick Philips, who was a successful tobacco merchant and banker.
In 1892, the company began producing carbon lamps. However, Gerard misjudged the serious competition from German manufacturers, and by 1894 the company was on the verge of bankruptcy.
Gerard's younger brother, Anton Philips, who had experience working in a London brokerage firm, took it upon himself to improve the company's positioning. In 1907, the Philips factory began producing tungsten bulbs, which gave three times more light than conventional bulbs.
Soon, the actual manufacturer of televisions under the Philips brand name became a Chinese company headquartered in Hong Kong - TP Vision Technology.
It was planned to sell the production of media equipment to the Japanese company Funai (which had been its manufacturing contractor for many years), but the deal fell through at the end of 2013.
On May 27, 2016, the lighting technology division Philips Lighting was spun off into an independent company, Signifyrunl, whose shares were listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. During 2017, the Philips Group sold a significant portion of its stake in this company. At the end of 2018, it already owned 16.5% of the shares, with a turnover of approximately 7 billion euros and 40,000 employees.
